Transitive and Intransitive Verbs

Transitive and intransitive verbs are an essential part of understanding English grammar. A transitive verb requires an object to complete its meaning, whereas an intransitive verb does not. For example, “She threw the ball” is a sentence with a transitive verb because “ball” is the object of the verb “threw”. In contrast, “He slept peacefully” is a sentence with an intransitive verb because there is no object required.

Using transitive and intransitive verbs correctly can greatly enhance the clarity and accuracy of your writing. Students can practice transitive and intransitive verbs worksheets, these worksheets provide exercises to help students identify transitive and intransitive verbs, as well as practice using them in sentences to improve their grammar skills.
